Venues, Venues and more Venues.

Finding the perfect spot for your big day is so hard. We have decided we want to go for a Barn style venue (I say we, I have and hubby to be just goes along with it); so at least that narrows it down, but it doesn't make the process any easier. We have a approx. 40 miles between where mine and my fiancés family live, so the scope for locations is pretty large. Do we go close to us? close to my mum? do we go in the middle? Well it all depends on the venue I guess, either way people are going to have to travel, my family live all over the place, London, Spain, Yorkshire, Birmingham, Ireland- you get the picture. I need to remember this is our day and we need to do what's right for us and not what's best for everyone else (Plus if we are paying all this money I want a bloody good day)

It may sound stupid but I was so un-oblivious to all the rules with marriage and venues, like I've found the most amazing band I want but a lot of venues don't have a licence for bands/ live music or they cant have certain instruments? Like what? Super annoying!! I also didn't know there are certain spots in venues you can get married.

So far we have looked at 2 venues, I thought it was going to be between these two, but good old Facebook cookies know I've been trolling all things wedding related and BAAMM! another amazing looking venue gets thrown in the mix.

Venue 1: Laughton Barns

I'm not joking this venue literally took our breath's away, we looked around on Friday evening with the sun still shining and it looked magnificent! You walk through what I can only describe is like a short tunnelled archway and when you come out at the other end, the amazing view smacks you in the face. I could not believe the amount of space/ land that you get included in the price all yours privately for the day, the photos would be amazing and there was even a little lake. We were greeted by a lovely toastmaster (I didn't even know this was a thing) but totally booking him, 1000% (and £200 for less stress is a bargain I say)

The barn itself was decorated ready for someone's wedding the next day, it looked beautiful, it had the circle tables in the middle, a rustic looking bar to one end and the dance floor at the other, there was also cute little seating areas around the edges. The ceiling had beautiful fairy lights across the beams- simple but seriously effective.

As with anything, nothings perfect- Cons: No live music and there's a lot of land, like a lot, I don't want people wandering too much and leaving the venue looking empty?

Venue 2: Long Furlong Barn

We looked round this venue today, it was great! James showed us around and also left us to explore ourselves which really gave us time to take things in. There was a lovely courtyard and on a summers day it would be fab for drinks under the sun. The barn was covered in fairy lights and it looked beautiful in daylight. The amount of space was perfect and all the facilities where modern.

Now BEST part of the venue was this lovely little Bridal suite for the bride and her tribe to get ready, the room smelt unreal too. Perfect because hair and makeup can take a girl forever on a good day let alone on your wedding day and pre wedding meltdowns need to happen close by right?

And the cherry on top, Live Bands Allowed! #Winning. I might sound like its petty being so focused on having live music but I went to the National Wedding Show and this band changed the atmosphere, people where dancing and they had the best energy and vibe. I want that exact atmosphere they created there to be shared with all my lovely guests and obvs I don't want an empty dance floor .

Only downside is the venue is near to a road, although you cant really hear it from inside and throw in music, chatting and a few drunk people and you would probably forget about it.

I still cant get over venue 1 taking my breath away, decisions, decisions.

For now the Venue hunt is still pending, totally in limbo about the 2 venues. Both have their pros and cons, its so hard to decide! Watch this Space as the venue search continues.
